Nectar Denim

Posted on: April 10th, 2012 by Paige 2 Comments

Colored denim is every where this season, and I have to say I am in love with the peach / apricot color that is popping up. Personally I think it is the most flattering on all body shapes ( along with the light pink ) it elongates your legs while making them look slimmer. Paired with a nude shoe and a neutral blouse it will make an unbeatable spring / summer combo. Look for our nectar dream jeans in by the end of the week!

Color Blocking

Posted on: March 9th, 2012 by Paige No Comments

Color blocking is a trend that I am so excited to see again this season, I feel like more people will want to try it since it is on it’s second season and I don’t see it fading anytime soon. Last night on Project Runway All Stars, one of my favorite designers Mondo Guerra made the most adorable color blocked shift dress for Nannette Lepore, which sadly sold out immediately this morning, but here are some great options available at 1 Happy Girl right now!

This top is almost sold out and the color combo is unbeatable

So bright & cheery! Throw it on with your favorite boots now and gold sandals later

The way the colors are blocked in this tunic are so different & beautiful, dress it up or down

Fresh Like Mint

Another hot hot color this spring is the freshest, prettiest mint. From my favorite macaroon flavor to the clothes I am so excited to add more of this color in my life.

This blouse is so feminine and pretty, wear it with a great pair of jeans and a cute black peep toe pump.

Oh my.. there are no words for how cute this dress is.

And of course I can’t wait for my macaroon order to get here in perfect spring colors!

2012 Oscar Best Dressed

Posted on: February 27th, 2012 by Paige 2 Comments

Tonight is my favorite night of the year, the Oscars. I was born on Oscar sunday, and every year since then my mom and I have watched them together in our family room. I love the Oscars because it is the one awards show that everyone is sure to be dressed to the nines, the host is guaranteed to be funny and the winners will have great speeches (we hope). I loved so many of the movies up for awards tonight from My Week With Marilyn, to Money Ball and The Help.

The red carpet was full of beautiful gowns but here are my top picks.

Milla Jovovich took the cake for me, hands down best dressed in this Elie Saab dress. From her hair to her makeup she was spot on for the perfect pulled together look.

Stacy Keibler who looked stunning in this Marchesa gown on the arm of  George Clooney. It’s not easy to stand out next to him, but she killed it tonight the color is perfect.

Glenn Close looks beyond beautiful in this Zac Posen gown. It reminds me so much of Charlottes bridesmaid dress in Sex & The City. It is such a great color and the cut of the dress to the style of the blazer over top, I am in love.

Octavia Spencer shined in her Tadashi Shoji gown. The cut looked beautiful and it had just the right amount of sparkle. She was so put together & I have to admit I adore her as an actress.

Michelle Williams, who is always the most poised and beautiful woman on the carpet. I loved the coral color of this Louis Vuitton dress and the simple makeup and jewelry was perfect on her dainty frame.

Kristin Wiig was so effortlessly chic, I know that fashion police will rip her to shreds tomorrow but I absolutely loved this look. It is so her, easy hair, simple jewelry & makeup and the color of the dress against her skin is flawless.

Louise Roe in Black Halo.. I have no words for how beyond perfect this entire look is, the color, the cut, the hair, the makeup.. EVERYTHING.

Jessica Chastain in Alexander Mcqueen, the more I look at this dress the more I love it and I loved her in The Help.

- And I did love Emma Stone, but it was so much like Nicole Kidman’s dress a few years back.

The Most Magical Day..

Posted on: February 16th, 2012 by Paige 10 Comments

As many of you know we were away on a buying trip this week. I personally love buying trips, it is fun to get away enjoy time with my mom, look for new things for the stores, eat great food and get new ideas. This was no doubt my favorite buying trip we have ever gone on. I feel like we found so many new AMAZING brands and styles of clothes we have never had before. From jewelry to purses, chunky knit sweaters, dressy dresses, casual dresses, glitzy tops, lounging outfits & cell phone accessories, we found it all.

Before we left I was contacted and asked to take a look at the new line Betsey Johnson has out, super cute clothes for great prices.

Of course I jumped at that opportunity..

1. Every school report I ever wrote was on Betsey Johnson

2. I have a closet full of her clothes

3. The line sheets she sent were way too cute not to go take a look

( cute graphic tees, cardigans with crystal buttons, floral dresses, lightening bolt sweaters, & skull lace pattern blouses )

My mom and I made it to the decked out pink booth on Valentines day and gushed over the clothes. We sat down for our appointment eating pink pearl candy (too cute for words) and picking out clothes. It just so happened that Betsey herself was making an appearance at the show. I was beyond excited to just get to see her even if it was behind a crowd of people. She was taking pictures and talking on a pink swarovski crystal microphone to everyone, and then it happened. She took a break and came into the booth, I was just about freaking out when she smiled and said “oh good! you girls are ordering do you like the line?”

At that moment that was more than enough for me, then she sat down at the table next to us and they brought out the pink champagne for us all. And if this all wasn’t enough my mom and I got to talk to her before we left for the night, my mom let her know that she was basically the reason I was so in love with fashion growing up and she asked me how old I was, how I got started and where my stores were at. I told her and she said ” you are so young, keep working hard, never stop.. you better be doing it till you are 72 like me“. Those words were the best advice anyone has ever given me, and it gave me more motivation than I ever knew possible. We ended with a BIG hug and a picture.

This was one of the most magical days of my life, I got to meet & talk to my fashion icon, buy her clothes for my stores & spend time with my mom. I feel so blessed for all of the amazing opportunities my job has given me and I am so excited to share them all with you guys. I can’t wait to show you all the great new clothes!

A Girls Night In Outfit

Posted on: February 8th, 2012 by Paige 1 Comment

For my last Valentines date night outfit I have it for the girl who is staying in with her girlfriends to watch chick flicks and eat some popcorn, or maybe for the couples that have been together and want to keep it simple this year on the couch feeling comfy.

Keep your hair and makeup simple, wear some tinted moisturizer and a little bronzer for some color, again I love Nars Laguna for a pretty bronzed look. Apply some black mascara & a nude lip color like Creme’ Brulee Lip butter from Revlon. It gives you  a sheer color but all the moisture of a lip balm. For hair just take your natural texture and put it in a messy fish tail braid, it’s on trend so you wont feel like a slob and you will look super cute while being comfy.

Show some love for Valentines day with super cute and comfy heart tee!

Just because it’s a girls night it doesn’t mean you have to wear sweat pants. Put on a cute pair of jeggings they are super cute and totally perfect for lounging around.

Now grab your girlfriends order a pizza and pop in some great girly movies..

A Vintage Date Night Outfit

Posted on: February 7th, 2012 by Paige 2 Comments

Every girl wants to feel like an old hollywood starlet now and then, doesn’t she?  Well here is a way to mix old hollywood glamour with a bit of todays glamour.

Start by blow drying your hair straight & smooth. Using a large curling iron a 1 1/2 ” or larger curl 3 inch sections of your hair, while the hair is still hot re roll the curl back up into  a circle and secure it with a bobbie pin to cool in place. Start on your makeup while you wait, you want a flawless face so go with a full coverage foundation. For cheeks mix a bit of Nars madly with Macs well dressed for a pink flush. The eyes are an easy smokey look, take a matte brown like brown down from mac and darken your outer V, make sure to blend with a fluffy brush. Line your upper and lower waterlines with a chocolate liner & for the full effect use a thick mascara like Too Faced Lash Injection and apply false eyelashes. Lips are the most important part of this look, this is where the new glamour comes in. Instead of the ever popular red lip go for a bright pink, Chatter Box from Mac is the perfect Fuchsia Pink, Apply with a lip brush for precision. Now back to your hair, it should of cooled by now so carefully unroll each curl and take a boars bristle brush to gently brush out your curls. Sweep it over one shoulder and your ready to go!

This lace black and nude dress is the perfect pick for a special night out, wear it over tights with a black pump.

It’s most likely going to be chilly this valentines so make sure you have a coat that will finish off your outfit and keep up with your theme.

Since your hair is swept to one side make sure to have a statement pair of earrings

A Romantic Date Night Outfit

Posted on: February 3rd, 2012 by Paige 1 Comment

Going along with my Valentines Day date outfits here is my romantic pick. It is effortlessly chic while still being so put together. This is best with day old slept on curls or your natural wave.

Start by flipping you head upside down and gathering all your hair to a high point on your head loosely. Secure it with an elastic, tease all the hair in the pony tail. Take one to one and a half inch sections and start bobbie pinning them to the opposite side of your head. Once done pull out a few pieces to frame your face and spray to hold into place. For make up keep it simple, use a full coverage foundation like makeup forever HD for a flawless look. Apply a bronzer on your cheekbones and temples for a sun kissed glow, my personal favorite is Laguna bronzer from Nars. Fill in your eyebrows with Revlons eye brow pencil, curl lashes & apply a thick mascara like Covergirl Lash Blast. For lips apply a sheer pink gloss like POP from Smashbox. To finish the look apply Macs cream color base in pearl on your cheek bones, above your cupids bow and down the bridge of your nose for a nice glow.

This Lace Blouse Is Perfect For A Night Out At A Chic Little Cafe, Pair It With A Cream Or Blush Cami. The Exposed Zipper Down The Back Adds For An Extra Pretty Detail.

Wear One Stand Out Piece Of Jewelry To Keep The Look Simple.
